The Ignatian Way

The Ignatian Way

Manresa is the final destination of the Ignatian Way: a route which begins in Ignatius of Loyola’s home town of Azpeitia (Basque Country), and which follows the path he trod in 1522 until his arrival in Manresa.

It was in Manresa that Ignatius of Loyola experienced a spiritual transformation that led him to pen the Spiritual Exercises. This pilgrimage is the perfect way to enjoy the history and the diverse landscapes of the autonomous communities he passed through on his way to Manresa: the Basque Country, La Rioja, Navarre, Aragón and Catalonia. It is also a great way to re-trace the footsteps of Saint Ignatius.

The final stage of the Ignatian Way Montserrat - Manresa
